Pagham V Boxgrove
Sunday 26th July 2009
Boxgrove arrived at Pagham on the back of winning the Downland cup earlier in the week, so a good game should have been in order.
Boxgrove won the toss and decided to field. Pagham's opening batsmen looked comfortable from the start and after seeing out 10 or
so overs started to push the run rate along, with some massive six's out of the ground. A change of bowling attack bringing on M. Langton(Clubber) to pick up the first wicket, and T Lightfoot (Judge) spin slowed the rate down after picking up 2 wickets.
Pagham posted 199 before declaring just before tea to put Boxgrove in for 4 overs of which they saw out with no loss.
After tea the openers of J Thorpe(Bugs) & T Lightfoot set about chasing down 199. Lightfoot was to reach his maiden 50 for Boxgrove
before being caught on 51. Bugs then made his 50 the next ball and continued to score freely even after hurting himself.
B. Gottesman(Beano) gave good support before being bowled, but T Vinnecombe came to the crease and after surviving being dropped on his first ball settled down and Boxgrove got to 196 before Bugs was bowled on 84. By then the game was effectively over and W Barrett hit the winning four with 3 overs to spare. A very good game to have played in.
Boxgrove batting at Pagham.
Bugs hits another cover drive.
The Judge digs out a fine yorker attempt.
