Singleton v Boxgrove
Well what turned out to be a very good day of cricket at Singleton started
with James Thorpe winning the toss and deciding to bat on what looked like
a good batting wicket. Boxgrove started poorly losing two early wickets, one
from a good single handed diving catch. From there on in James Thorpe and Mark Holl
set about to steady the ship with a unbeaten partnership of 175 with 124 n.o from James
and 57 n.o for Mark. Posting a total of 203 for 2 of 40 overs Singleton set about
chasing down. Losing an early wicket to the bowling of Matt Langton, Singleton's
captain came to the crease to turn the tide to their favour with a 87 inc four 6's
that put them above the run rate, eventually getting caught to Rew Reed on the boundary.
From there on in they never looked back eventually winning by 6 wickets with 8 overs left.
Note: Having checked the records, their partnership is the highest 3rd wicket stand.
