This Sunday saw Boxgrove take on locals Slindon away.  The wicket looked very dry and hard and having won the toss James Thorpe decided it would would be fruitful to field first.
Benno Gottesman was the first to be called on and struck in his third over having young Van Driel caught behind by Rewby Reed for a duck.  Temple then came to the wicket and along with old timer Brian Herechuck set about tallying a good score.  Paul Mants first spell was tight but bore no 'Fruits' and Thorpe felt the need for a change. The rangy Barrett was employed and his unusual action immediately made an impact taking Herechucks (26) scalp, caught at slip with a nifty catch by Thorpe.
Lewis Donnavan was brought on from the other end and got swing and movement, two overs in, he was rewarded with the wicket of Kimbell (3).
The score was ticking along quickly with Temple and D Fuente playing some flourishing shots until Audi Langton ended Temples innings on a respectable 46 with a super catch from debutant  Dave Board.  Thorpe took over from the car park end and quickly took two wickets one caught at 3rd slip by a kangaroo like Langton at the second attempt.
Mant was reintroduced and the strangest of wickets ensued, D Fuente (46) edged an away swinging ball which stayed so low keeper, Rewby Reed, couldn't get his hands to it, luckily for Boxgrove it hit his considerable sized left boot on the full and ballooned to Bugsy Thorpe at 1st slip for a memorable catch and wicket!
Slindons 40 overs came to an end with them finishing on 180 runs.

Boxgroves innings saw a change as Barrett opened with Reed, while Barrett looked assured, Reed struggled to find form and was quickly seen off without scoring.  Barrett looked good and hit three boundaries before falling to N Madge for 13.  T Kimbell was in good touch and took the wickets of Tremell (2) and D Board (1)
With only Gottesman (23) scoring in the twenties and H Temple in stunning form with the ball (7-3-19-6)  for Slindon, the Boxgrove innings came to a sharp end all out for just 61.
Matt Langton secured one of four ducks on the day to take his tally to four in a row, hes looking for a fifth next week as he will become the clubs first Olympian!!!
